Employee Spotlight on Jessica McMakin

My name is Jess McMakin and I teach both ESL and ABE at the Mt. Morris site. I’ve been teaching ESL to adults since 2007 and ABE since 2019. I’m a NYS Master Teacher in ESL and have recently become a trainer for the BEST+ test for the area education networks. My first language is English, but I also speak a bit of Spanish. One of the things I like best about teaching ESL is that it exposes me to many other languages and cultures from around the world. For all of my students, both ESL and ABE, it gives me a sense of accomplishment to help them reach their personal goals.
